Attention Greggs fans: the high street chain has announced a new pastry will be coming to shelves next month — one that fans will recognise from seven years ago.

Unveiling their autumn menu, the eatery revealed the return of what they are calling a ‘legendary item’ that fans have been ‘begging for.’

Drum roll please.

After being discontinued in 2019, the fast food chain has confirmed to Metro that this hearty pastry will be available to buy once more from Thursday, September 3.

The bake, which contains diced beef in rich gravy, with blue Stilton cheese and grilled onions in a flaky puff pastry, will cost a very reasonable £2.50 (though prices vary slightly on location).

Alongside this, the chain will also introduce other seasonal items, including the fan favourite Pumpkin range.

Speaking to Metro, the bakery said the new items will be around until the Christmas menu launch, but that date of that is under wraps for now.

What else is new at Greggs?

Alongside the Steak & Stilton Bake return is a whole list of bakes, drinks and savoury snacks to enjoy in the latest menu shake-up.

New to Greggs is the Buffalo Chicken Baguette (from £4.10) – a buffalo-style chicken mayonnaise with mature cheddar cheese and red onion.

Also new is the Buffalo Pizza Slice (from £2.70), available in a two-, four- or six-slice box too (from £5.75, from £8.95, and from £10.95 respectively). This focaccia-style pizza is topped with cheese, pizza sauce, buffalo-style chicken mayonnaise and red onion.

The Chicken & Pepperoni Toastie (from £3.80) is new this autumn, featuring chicken in a pizza-style sauce, in a sandwich.

Finally, the last new arrival is the Bonfire Toffee Muffin (from £1.65).

If that wasn’t enough, the much-loved Pumpkin Spice drinks (from £2.85 or from £3.35 for iced) are making a comeback, with the Pumpkin Spice Latte now topped with salted caramel drizzle, alongside the returning Pumpkin Spice Doughnut (from £1.50)

‘I absolutely love the iced drinks,’ claimed @twinkle_rm8910, ‘but I’d love for there to be a little less ice!’

‘What a menu! Can’t wait to devour it all xo,’ exclaimed @niamhsscran. While @si.oz.si.oz remarked, ‘You’ve smashed autumn already.’

On Facebook, Matthew King said, ‘Yes finally!!,’ and Holly Jary-Mappin added, ‘now that’s a bit of me.’

‘Greggs have won my heart,’ added Rosana Bateman, while Laura Anne called it ‘beautiful,’ and Dave Rushforth stated it ‘Sounds delicious!’

However, though many are looking forward to the menu, some were quick to point out the lack of new vegan and vegetarian options, as well as dairy-free milk for the drinks.

‘The vegan sausage roll might be for 365 days a year, but we deserve a little autumnal treat too,’ wrote @the_vegan_cottage on Instagram.
